ASN Report 2017

361 ASN report on the state of nuclear safety and radiation protection in France in 2017 Chapter 12  - EDF Nuclear Power Plants Shortcomings in the process to care for and treat contaminated personnel were identified in several NPPs. This can lead to delays in treatment, difficulties with dose evaluation and is conducive to inappropriate behaviour on exiting zones with a contamination risk. The conditions for caring for and treating contaminated personnel are monitored by ASN, notably through simulation exercises. The shortcomings observed are the subject of requests for corrective action. In several NPPs, ASN observes the positive impact of allocating “zone managers” for radiation protection of workers during reactor outages.
